Anyone who has ever been through a rebrand knows it is a lot of work. A Lot. And everyone has an opinion. Everyone. But what stood out to me as the most important part of the puzzle to solve, even before logos and colours and imagery, was the why. Why are we changing our brand.
Why are we here?
We started Foodcontrolplans.co.nz because of the difficult and frustrating experience people were having with transferring their food business to the new Food Act 2014. An updated compliance system had been put in place for the food industry in New Zealand but busy business owners were finding it difficult to understand and infuriating to navigate.
With a vision of a better way for food businesses to gain their compliance we set out to create a small business that would help food businesses, in the beginning mainly restaurants and cafes, through this transition process.
2020 and beyond
After a few years of exciting growth and the bringing together of a range of people’s knowledge and expertise we realized our branding needed to be updated to better reflect who we are and all we have to offer.
We have now evolved past our original goal of building compliant Food Control Plans to becoming integral partners to food businesses large and small across New Zealand and through all stages of their journey.

The New Logo
Representing an authoritative voice in the industry, our new logo aims to tel the public this is a team with the expert knowledge base that can guide, assist and problem solve any issue around food compliance, systems and training.
We know the industry inside and out and pride ourselves on our integrity, professionalism, expertise and approachability.
The Website
Part of our brand identity is simplicity. We want things to be as simple as possible for food businesses. We want to be approachable and reliable. We want our website to reflect this. So out with the old and in with the new. We have decided to launch a shiny new e-commerce site consistent with the new and improved brand direction.
And so, as the decision on our look is made it is time to start the transition and all that that entails. The journey we have been on so far has been exciting, fun and, at times, enlightening. But I sense this journey is only just beginning......
